More trees please

In the past year several unhealthy trees were removed from the park to prevent the ‘tree flu’ from spreading to other trees (note.. ‘tree flu’ doesn’t really exist, but the trees were sick or diseased or something). When the big tree in front of #7 tee pad was removed I was overjoyed. I hit the darn thing every other drive and was glad to see it cut down. But after a few rounds I realized the tree was a critical element of the hole. It forced me to focus and work on my drive accuracy.

Same goes for #17, the little tree just in front of the basket made the par 3 a little tricky. It’s not a long hole, but if you came up short & south you had to putt around the tree.

I want the trees back.. and the Republic Community Grant program wants to help. There is $10,000 in funds on the table for one of three projects, including the Greening of the Downtown initiative for planting additional shade tress in the park. If you live in Fountain Hills & disc golf or know anyone that plays.. get to the polls and vote!
